Y’all. We’re hitting our stride…
It’s been three months since we opened in early June. So much has changed! From bringing on staff to starting house baked goods to acquiring the liquor license–first for retail and then draft beverages–to starting sandwiches two weeks ago… I dare say that I think we’ve finally hit our full “starting point.”
This feels really big.
And it absolutely wouldn’t–couldn’t–have happened without y’all. There’s been so much love and community excitement around this project… it’s been really encouraging! And humbling.
I can’t wait to see where this project goes, what it becomes, in the months and years to come. Wherever it goes, it’s sweet knowing that we’re all headed there together.
So, it’s time to throw a party! Please mark your calendars for Sat., Sept., 28 for our grand opening!! We’re still figuring everything out for the day, but rest assured it’ll be a grand ol’ time. (Rain date the following Saturday, Oct. 5.) We’re figuring out specials, samples, entertainment… stay tuned for more details, and RSVP, on the Facebook event page. Danby’s gonna hit it!
Other updates!
We’re hiring a new baker. Our beloved and magically gifted baker, Carrie “Dove” LaMontagne, has had a change in her personal life that forces her to step away, much to my dismay, and hers. She’s a dear friend and an outstanding baker and is already going to be deeply missed here! If you or someone you know is interested in baking here, please fill out this hiring form and I’ll be in touch.
Thursday Tunes have been such a fun time! We’ve got Frank Raponi coming up this Thurs 9/5 (rescheduled from a few weeks ago) and Richie Stearns next week 9/12. As usual, 6-8pm. As the weather starts to cool down we’re planning to shift to small indoor, acoustic sets. It’ll get fun and cozy and loud and magical. More to come.
Sandwiches! If you haven’t tried one yet, you gotta get in here. Three sandwiches on the menu for now… a roast beef/provolone, smoked turkey/gouda and a vegan seitan/veggie, all piled high on gorgeous Sheepy Hollow sourdough. We’ve already had some folks make these a part of their regular routines, sometimes daily–sometimes more. 😉
Breakfast hot pockets have hit their stride as well… stuffed with egg and cheese, we’re aiming to always have a meat and a vegetarian option available. (Until we come up with a nice hot option for our vegan and gluten-free friends, our popular Rise and Shine cookies are a great alternative.)
Reminder that we now have house accounts. These work just like a gift card but you can check out with just your name/phone number at the register. Feel free to buy one online or in store. A great way to support the store while not having to think about bringing in your cash or card!
Much love y’all!
Kartik (“carthick”)
